Hairsine Community League
Branding and Website with Custom Graphics
Project Overview
Since 1980, Hairsine Community League has brought neighbors together, offering events, resources, and a sense of connection across four Edmonton neighborhoods. However, its branding and website struggled with inconsistency, outdated visuals, and limited accessibility.
The league needed a refresh that honored its history while creating a cohesive, inviting, and easy-to-maintain brand and website that better serves the community.
Branding
The Goal
Develop a warm and welcoming brand that honors the league’s history while making it feel fresh and community-focused.
The Challenge
The previous branding had inconsistent colors and pixelated logos, making it difficult to maintain a strong identity. The new brand needed to be modern yet familiar and reflect both the league’s legacy and its future.
The Result
We introduced a refined color palette that kept key historical colors—burgundy and blue—while adding new complementary tones. The new logo evolved from past versions, featuring the hawk (a longtime symbol of the league and its soccer team) alongside house icons to represent the four neighborhoods the league serves. For typography, we chose classic, easy-to-access fonts that board members could consistently use across different programs without needing to install custom typefaces, ensuring a unified brand experience.

Website
The Goal
Create a user-friendly, engaging, and easy-to-update website that makes community news, events, and memberships more accessible.
The Challenge
The previous website was built on WordPress, making updates difficult due to outdated plugins and complex maintenance needs. It had received minimal updates since 2014, leaving information outdated and navigation clunky. The new website had to be simple to manage while offering a modern, intuitive experience for visitors.
The Result
We transitioned the site from WordPress to Squarespace, making it far easier for the board to maintain without technical headaches. The redesigned site features clear navigation, an integrated events calendar, and accessible community information, all in a warm, welcoming design that reflects the league’s renewed brand identity. The community’s response has been overwhelmingly positive, with members appreciating the fresh look and improved usability.
